YOUth ACT ART SHOW: UNTOLD STORIES
April 2024
Our annual art show celebrated stories that would otherwise remain tucked away somewhere, alien, in a sea of cookie-cutter and easy to digest stories that are fed to us by mainstream media.
Our aim was to create a space that is safe, warm and vibrant for artists to share real stories, untethered from societal expectations and judgements. Focusing on themes of class, gender, race and sexuality, we wish to amplify the voices of those who don’t often get the mic. YOUth ACT curated and hosted a diverse program of artists, crafts, live music and spoken word.
WE ARE NOT REALLY STRANGERS
December 2023
Based on the card game “We’re not really strangers,” we hosted a networking night to enable young people to have critical and reflective conversations 🌍
YOUth ACT hosted a social and educational event for young people to get to meet new people and play this amazingly curated card game by our community team 🙌🏽
Different cards, different topics, different tables, different conversations each 20 minutes, all in a safe space 💜

Annual YOUth ACT Conference
Our initiative arose out of a collaboration of the Amsterdam-based Amnesty and Unicef student teams in 2019. Our objective was to showcase Amsterdam-based initiatives and provide insight into the means of social and environmental change. During our two-day YOUth ACT conference with fascinating keynote speeches, hands-on workshops, and unique networking opportunities, we looked at a diverse range of human rights and social justice topics through a practical lens. Our five conference themes, namely Business and Finance, AI and Big Data, Environmental Justice, Global Health and Education for Integration, allowed us to connect students with diverse backgrounds and interests. The opportunity to interact with inspiring changemakers thought leaders and youth activists was made possible through our collaboration with groundbreaking local initiatives, such as the Forward Incubator, She Matters, Our Bodies Our Voice, Right2Education, Universities Allied for Essential Medicines, LCOY, Amnesty International and the UN Youth Representative for Human Rights and Security. With over 100 participants, we successfully mobilized a highly motivated and proactive global community of potential change-makers who shared their aspirations, diversified their network and gained insight into the wide range of skills and creative mindset necessary for impact making.
Stay tuned for our next conference!
